China strange food
I am sure you heard of Chinese people in China eating strange food like cats, dog, tiger and donkey penis, monkey brains and other strange stuff. Pretty much Chinese will eat anything that flies except helicopters and planes, and everything that walks except cars and bicycles. The Chinese do not discriminate when it comes to food. I think that up to 500 years ago, they use to eat each other as a victory prize; when one warlord conquered another, the winer would eat the looser for lunch! Makes sense, ergonomics, eliminate your enemy and do not let anything go to waste!
I am not Chinese, but like the saying goes, “When in Rome do as the Romans do!” I have experimented a little with strange Chinese delicacies. This last trip, in Beijing I ate fried scorpions. A trip before this one, not quite China but Laos I had dog meat, unknowingly. Dog meat suppose to be an aphrodisiac.
Here are a few interesting pictures i took of strange food in China: Scorpions, a Starfish, and a Goat Head. I wanted to get a picture of a dog gutted and cut in half that a fellow traveler had, but he guarded it with jealousy! Sounds like I will need to make another trip to China to get that coveted skinned dog meat picture. I heard the place to go is in Guilin, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

I’ve never been to China, nor any far eastern country, but wherever I traveled I happen to become friends with Asian cooks, so I believe I know their cuisine a bit more than the average Westerner. I never was offered anything that strange I wouldn’t eat willingly, but some definitely unusual things yes. I even had dog once, as a teen. I ate it, but didn’t thought much of it, nor did I of canned whale meat a Japanese friend brought me from a trip home. I know it’s tradition there, but personally I think it’s a tradition they’d better forget.
And yes, I am a Westerner, and the Idea of killing puppies to eat them definitely DOES disturb me.

Yeah, I like Chinese food, but these stuff is really strange. I just tried it out for furn, not addicted. I am addicted to Asian women!
But to tell the Chinese to forget about eating strange food may not be wise. They barely have enough food to feed their population. Their agricultural basket is only in the North East, the rest of China is not really fertile.
Alex, if they heed your advise they might start eating Wester people for launch, instead of inviting them to lunch! Or they maybe already doing it anyway.
Be careful when Chinese people invite you to have lunch with them. You may wind up being the main course! LOL

Make sure to get some Baidju Chinese whiskey. It is 55% proof. It will help you digest the food! I think it may have some LSD in it, because after you drink it you feel paralyzed.

I wonder how they get so many scorpions and star fish?

Brian maybe they raise them on a farm. Chinese are good at mass production and cloning.
Actually the scorpions had an interesting taste, something like chicken wings without the meat, crispy!
In North Thailand Isan people eat bugs and grasshoppers. I wonder if the tradition was brought to them by the Chinese?

Most likely yes. There’s been lots of interchanges in that area…
