Europe winter vacation 2008
Living in Asia makes me miss the European culture and its history. So from time to time I splurge and go to Europe for a month or so, visiting ruins, museums, old streets and old buildings. This time my wife and I went to Austria skiing, but at the same time we spent a bit of time in Viena, Salzburg, and London walking around the old streets, palaces, and castles admiring the Medieval and Renaissance past.
I am sorry I do not have more pictures for you, but I guess I was too busy having fun! Maybe you can go to Europe for a vacation and share some of your pictures with us.

Carina, I been to Europe many times, but have never been to Sweden. Why don’t you tell us about Sweden a bit and what is nice there.

Igor, next time you really should go to the very beautiful country of Germany. Go to see the medieval city of Lueneburg in northern Germany, not far from Hamburg. Springtime around April/ May or in August/September, that is the best time.
Hamburg has a harbor, so it will not be a big deal to take a ship from Bangkok to get there. Otherwise you may get in trouble again on the non-smoking flight

Maybe I can hitch a ride on someone’s yacht from Phuket to Germany..:)
I have been to Germany for about 6 months when I was 11 years old, but I was too young to remember. I would like to visit and see Germany again.
Thanks for the suggestion!

Yeah a nice escape from drudging rutine is definitely a cure for the soul.
I am getting ready to do China, for the second time. Planing on flying up to Habrin and then on the road to Beijing, Xiang, Sichuan and Tibet.
I hope things get quiet down in Tibet so I can enjoy western China.
Also want to do Rishikesh in India. I have not been to India for ages.
I just love to travel. It is a learning experience!

Dear Igor,
Just writing to see if you got your visa to visit your mom in America. I noted from your email that you will be in India during the latter part of this year….we are leaving for New Dehli on September 19 and will stay until October 20th….maybe we can all meet up if you will let us know your schedule.
Talk to you later….Nina

Nina, sorry for getting back to you a bit late, but was a bit busy the last few days. Yeah I would love to get together with you in India or in Thailand, depending which works out better for the two of us.
On the sad note, no I did not get a visa to USA, and my mother is now incapacitated in a nursing home. My Cousin placed her there. She is being pumped everyday with some conscious suppression drug so she does not act up. I mean she is under tranquilizers. It is really a sad case. The nursing home that she was placed in has 3 nurses to 40 patience. And they complain that my mother makes problems, so their rational is to sedate here 24/7.
My cousin asked the doctor to give her less dosage, but he says that he will not. And if we not happy we should take my mother out of the facility. My cousin is 60 years old and still works. She does not have the knowledge, the energy, or resources to deal with the situation.
But anyway, I am looking forward to meeting you. I will let you know where I am. Send me an email, it might be better. I do not know if it is such a good idea talking about my personal stuff in such great details on this blog.
